Scott Janssen

Scott City — Services and burial for Scott Janssen, 42, De Soto, will be in the Scott City Cemetery in Scott City. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Curé of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood.
Mr. Janssen died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born April 4, 1967, in Manhattan, the son of Alfred III and Sally Gilliland Janssen. He graduated from Scott Community High School in 1986. He received his bachelor’s degree in animal science from Kansas State University in 1991.
He was a professional horse trainer for many years. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a board member of the Kansas Quarter Horse Association.
He attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora.
He married Lesley Karnes on Nov. 15, 1994, in Dighton. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include his parents, Scott City; a brother, Craig, Bozeman, Mont.; and a sister, Kristin Janssen Nicholson, Lake Forest, Ill.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Eudora Chapel.
The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Quarter Horse Association Scholarship Fund, Hospice House or to the Kansas University Hospital Cancer Center, sent in care of the mortuary.
