Funeral services for Aaron William “A.W.” Shackelford, 75, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg, Mo. Burial will follow at Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, Mo.
Mr. Shackelford died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 2, 1934, the son of Ellis and Fern Alexander Shackelford.
He served in the Navy during 1951 and 1956 as a gunner’s mate first class. From 1972 until 1990, he was the maintenance manager at the Kmart distribution center. He was a member of American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 in Lawrence. He previously was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Mr. Shackelford married Carrol Jo Horton on Sept. 15, 1957, in Pattonsburg, Mo. She died Dec. 9, 1989. He later married Edna Jones Conrad on May 15, 1992. She died Oct. 11, 2009.
He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Randy Conrad Sr., in 2002.
Survivors include four sons, Brett, Bryan and wife Brandy, and Lenny Conrad, all of Lawrence, and Brad and wife Stefanie, Lecompton; a daughter, Jacque Conrad, Texas; three sisters, Viola King, Ruth Combs and Maurine Preston, all of Bethany, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Donna Spencer, Doug Kilburn, Chrissy Allen, Randy Conrad Jr., and Michael, Chelsie, Austin, Kyle, Katelyn, Corey, and Tucker Shackelford; and four great-grandchildren, Bethany and Nickolas Kilburn, Dakota Taggart, and Jonathan Spencer.
The family will greet friends from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
