Geraldine A. Suenram

McPherson — A Mass of Christian Burial for Geraldine A. “Gerry” Suenram, 84, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 520 E. Northview, McPherson. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery.
Mrs. Suenram died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, in Lawrence.
She was born July 20, 1925, in Penalosa, the daughter of Otto and Margaret Youngers Feuerborn. She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1943 and attended St. Mary of the Plains Academy.
Mrs. Suenram was a homemaker and worked for the McPherson Sentinel as lifestyles editor for 10 years. During that time, the Sentinel’s lifestyles section won state honors.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson, the Altar Society, Secular Order of the Discalced Carmelites and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in McPherson. She was a regular volunteer at Red Cross blood drives and at Save & Share. She was active in the restoration of the McPherson Opera House.
She married Robert Lee Suenram on Aug. 19, 1945, in Newton. He died June 14, 2009.
Survivors include four daughters, Roberta Suenram, Paula Dupigny-Leigh and Mary Kozak, all of Lawrence, and Julie Porter, Kansas City, Mo.; five sons, the Rev. John Suenram, OCD, Little Rock, Ark., Dr. Mark Suenram, Lee’s Summit, Mo., Tom Suenram, Olathe, Gerald Suenram, Los Angeles, and Ted Suenram, McPherson; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the church, where family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m.
