Louisa Elizabeth Davis

Funeral services for Louisa Elizabeth Davis, 81, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mrs. Davis died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Medicalodges Eudora.
She was born April 2, 1928, in Gurdon, Ark., the daughter of Wash and Frances Burton McClain.
Mrs. Davis was a cook at Kansas University for 38 years in numerous fraternities and sororities. After she retired from KU, she was a cook at Immanuel Lutheran Day Care.
She was a member of Praise Temple Church of God in Christ.
She married Albany Davis on March 7, 1949, in Malvern, Ark. He preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1983.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Willie Smith.
Survivors include an adopted brother, Le Roy Smith Sr.; an uncle, Nathaniel Burton; two cousins, Willine Turner and Justine Burton; niece Lindsey and nephews Lamar and Le Roy Smith Jr., and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
