Leola Evelyn Murray 1926 - 2009 Lawrence
A funeral service for Leola Evelyn Murray, 83, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Murray died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 25, 1926, in Eudora, the daughter of Alvin E. Sr. and Lillie Mae Smith Bond.
Mrs. Murray was a homemaker and a seamstress. She had also worked at KU Bookstore and JCPenney.
She enjoyed crocheting and also attended craft shows. She was also a member of the EHU for many years.
She married Milliard E. Murray on Feb. 20, 1946, in Eudora. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Kathy Hamilton and husband Ed, of Gas, Jean Eberhart and husband Delbert, Lawrence, and Jane Lamb and husband Steve, St. George; three sons, Mike and his wife Eileen, Topeka, Dennis M., Lawrence, and Gary G. and wife Edith, Baldwin City; three sisters, Carol Belles, Lawrence, and Alvena Tuggle and Edna Holmes, both of Eudora; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin, and a sister, Gladys.
The family will greet friends from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the mortuary.
