Alice E. Richardson

Shawnee — Mass of Christian Burial for Alice E. Richardson, 90, Shawnee, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mrs. Richardson died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center.
She was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Shawnee, the daughter of George M. and Leona Callahan Haas. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.
Mrs. Richardson retired from TED Manufacturing in 1984. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, fishing and was a Royals fan.
She married Oliver A. Richardson on June 15, 1940, in Shawnee. He preceded in her death March 12, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet L. Jacobi, on Feb. 2, 1982; a sister, Helen Zimmer; and a brother, John Haas.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Starrett and husband Roger, Leesburg, Fla., and Joyce Soetaert and husband Paul, Shawnee; two sons, Mike Richardson and wife Johnell, Lawrence, and Tom Richardson and wife Terri, Lenexa; two sisters, Mary Henke, Shawnee, and Irene Smeltzer, Apopka, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Jane Sherman, Shawnee; six grandchildren, Andy Starrett, Amy Dickenson, Jennifer Gross, Kara Spurling, Jill Aldredge and Kate Martin; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Lupus Foundation.
