Rachel Claire Leek 1989 - 2009 Lawrence
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rachel Claire Leek, 20, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 16000 W. 143rd St. in Olathe.
Ms. Leek died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at a Topeka hospital as a result of a hit-and-run accident in Lawrence.
She was born May 30, 1989, in Olathe, the daughter of James and Sandra Leek. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 2007, and went on to attend both Johnson County Community College and Kansas University.
She was employed with Wheatfield’s Bakery in Lawrence.
Survivors include her parents, James and Sandra Leek; five brothers, Ernest, Andrew, Thomas, Alex and Patrick; five sisters, Esther Leek-Veitch, Anne Leek, Mary Leek-Stolz, Jane Leek and Angela Leek; aunts and uncle Carol and John Krieger, and Susan Sulkey; and one nephew, Clovis James Leek-Veitch.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hollis and Ernestine Leek, of Fort Scott, and Joe and Josephine Sulkey, of St. Louis.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, after which the family will meet friends until 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Catholic Charities Food Pantry, 333 E. Poplar St., Olathe, KS 66061.
