Ronald D. Cook

Memorial visitation for Ronald D. Cook, 77, Lawrence, will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Pioneer Cemetery.
Mr. Cook died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 19, 1931, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Richard R. and Anna C. Hansen Cook.
Mr. Cook served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He attended Missouri Western University, formerly known as St. Joseph Junior College, and Kansas University.
He was the director of civil engineering for facilities operations at KU. He retired in 1994 after 37 years of service.
He married Dorothy Herndon on Oct. 19, 1952, in St. Joseph. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, David M., Lawrence, and Darren W. and wife Susan, Lawrence; a daughter, Diane L. Stoddard and husband Brian, Lawrence; six grandchildren, Katie L., Tara L., Dustin A. and Derek R. Cook and Nathan D. and Adam M. Stoddard; and a great-granddaughter, Bria L. McCormick.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimers Association, Trinity In-Home Care Services or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary.
