Irene Marie Snook 1925 - 2009 Russell
A celebration of life for Irene Marie Snook, 84, WaKeeney, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. Cremation will follow the service.
Mrs. Snook died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at the Trego County Hospital in WaKeeney.
She was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Dubuque, the daughter of John and Katherine Meier Luerman.
Mrs. Snook grew up in Dubuque and attended school in Bunker Hill. She lived most of her life in Russell.
She was a homemaker. She also worked as a ticket collector at the Dream Theater.
She was a member of the Women’s Circle at St. John Lutheran Church of Russell.
She married Vernon Fink. He preceded her in death. Later, she married Oscar Marion “Bud” Snook. He also preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Dennis Snook, and a grandson, Bryan Beech.
Mrs. Snook is survived by a son, Dan Snook, Richardson, Texas; three daughters, Vicky McCarty, Charlestown, Ind., Celeste Tipton, Lawrence, and Debbie Snook, Russell; two stepsons, Dwane Snook, of Montana, and LeRoy Snook, Russell; a sister, Eunice McBroom, Wichita; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary, where family will greet them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Shrine Children Burn Center or the St. Jude’s Children Hospital, sent in care of the mortuary, 610 N. Maple, Russell, KS 67665.
