Margaret Cornelia Blaufuss

Emporia — A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Cornelia Blaufuss, 80, Council Grove, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 101 Cottonwood, Emporia, with the Rev. Edmond Kline officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Olpe.
Mrs. Blaufuss died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove.
She was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Hartford, the daughter of William and Mary Hurtig Gorman.
Mrs. Blaufuss was a homemaker and a former resident of Emporia, Osage City and Olpe. She attended Kansas State University and earned a teaching certificate from Kansas State Normal School in Emporia. She was a teacher in Burns for two years before getting married.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary and St. Joseph’s Altar Society in Olpe.
She married Albert Leo Blaufuss on May 30, 1950, in Hartford. He died Feb. 6, 1995, in Osage City.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Matthew Whittredge; three brothers, Joe, Jerry and Richard Gorman; and a sister, Barbara Lillian.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Blaufuss, Lawrence, Philip Blaufuss, Newton, and David Blaufuss, Littleton, Colo.; five daughters, Barbara Blaufuss and Judy Blaufuss, both of Olpe, Marjorie Blaufuss and Jean Robinson, both of Lawrence, and Dorothy Whittredge, Benton; two brothers, Jim Gorman, San Dimas, Calif., and Bill Gorman, Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Eleanor Bruske, Topeka; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
