Raylene Woolsey

A memorial service for Raylene Woolsey, 78, Newton, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church. Private family inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Mrs. Woolsey died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at her home.
She was born Nov. 30, 1930, in Carollton, Mo., the daughter of Ray and Jennie Helene Kendrick. She attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo.
She retired as an administrative assistant at Newton High School. She had also worked as a house parent at Youthville.
Mrs. Woolsey and her family were founding members of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, where she was active in the church choir, Wesley Workers Sunday school class, Bible study group, and Elizabeth Circle among her many other church activities. She was also a member of PEO, MEO, Round Table, Bridge Club, Jaycee Jaynes and many other organizations.
She married Carlton G. Woolsey on Sept. 30, 1951, in Missouri. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Woolsey, Lawrence; three daughters, Cheryl Slack, Lawrence, Susan Huebert, Halstead, and Jennie Dyck, Andover; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church.
The family suggests memorials to the church for its missions and music departments, sent in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton, KS 67114. The family also suggests that floral tributes be designated to decorate the Trinity Heights sanctuary for Christmas.
