Rev Homer T. Rule, 88, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away November 22, 2009, at Windsor Place. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church, 3200 Clinton Parkway, Lawrence, Kansas. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at the Clinton Parkway Assembly of God. Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
He was born February 18, 1921, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of William and Pansy Rule. Rev. Rule married Cleo Doris Hamerman on May 11, 1941, in Ottawa. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include daughters, Elisabeth Scribner and husband R.W., of Lawrence, KS; Ruth Smith of Sour Lake, Texas; a son-in-law, Carl Smith of Colorado Springs, CO; a son Stan Rule and wife Judy, of Needville, Texas; a son Roger Rule, preceded him in death, leaving his wife Mary Beth, daughter -in-law, of Kansas City, MO; a brother William Rule of Wichita, KS; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Rule was ordained in the Assemblies of God in 1951. He served numerous churches throughout Kansas including the cities of Alton, Hoisington, Mankato, Liberal, Iola, and Kansas City. He established Faith Assembly of God in Lawrence, KS, in 1962 where he served for 11 years.
Rev. Rule and his wife Doris worked for many years in the 70's and 80's as Children's Pastors throughout the Midwest. They also served the Kansas Assemblies of God as the State Senior Adult Ministries Directors.
Since his retirement he has served as Pastor of Senior Adult Ministries at Clinton Parkway Assemblies of God Church in Lawrence.
