Mary Kathryn Gill 1915 - 2009 Topeka
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Kathryn Gill, 94, of Topeka, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
Mrs. Gill died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the St. Francis Hospital emergency room.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1915, in Bankston, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Verna Lee Atkinson O’Connor.
Mrs. Gill was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where she attended Mass regularly and was one of the first Eucharistic ministers at the church. She enjoyed playing bridge. She and her husband enjoyed vegetable gardening.
She married John W. Gill on June 15, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa. They lived together in Topeka until his death on June 15, 1988.
Survivors include a son, James F. Gill, of Lawrence; a granddaughter, Kathryn E. “Katie” Gill; and a sister, Ann Marie Schmitt and husband Jim, of Dyersville, Iowa.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m.
