June Louise Thome

The funeral service for June Louise Thome, 83, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Eudora. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mrs. Thome died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 24, 1926, in Eudora, the daughter of Martin F. and Lucy E. Maul Abel.
Mrs. Thome was a homemaker. She worked at Hallmark from 1966 until she retired in May 1989. She formerly worked in the investigations department at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near De Soto during World War II.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Eudora.
She married Walter E. Thome on Sept. 27, 1946, in Eudora. He preceded her in death Sept. 5, 2000.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia, and a sister, Martha Wittenberg.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda VanCoevern, Lawrence; a son, Dennis A., Lawrence; two grandsons, Brian VanCoevern and Blake VanCoevern; one granddaughter, Jill VanCoevern; a niece, Diane Kennedy; and a nephew, Ron Lefholz.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
