June Cameron Flavin

A memorial service for June Cameron Flavin, 83, Brenham, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, at Brenham Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Flavin died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham.
She was born June 17, 1925, in Milwaukee, the daughter of John G. and Gladys Johnson Cameron.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Minneapolis. She later became a member of Brenham Presbyterian Church.
She was a 1944 graduate of Marshall High School in Minneapolis, where she was valedictorian.
During World War II, she was employed as an X-ray technician, and later in Washington, D.C., as a market researcher. Mrs. Flavin was a foster parent through Catholic charities, a parish volunteer and choir member, Boy Scout leader and a Red Cross volunteer. While in Arizona she taught English as a second language at the University of Arizona Extension office, was president of the “Minnesota Club” in Tucson, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a member of PEO and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She married John W. Flavin in Stuttgart, Ark., on October 16, 1945. He died in November 1996.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul C. Flavin.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick J. Flavin, Lawrence, Kan., and Stephen J. Flavin, Brenham; a daughter, Mary Lynn Flavin Harris, Brenham; a brother, Donavan King, Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Marlys Krenz, Sun City, Ariz; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
