Betty Lou Patterson

Perry — Mass of Christian Burial for Betty Lou Patterson, 84, Oskaloosa, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Theresa Church in Perry. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry.
Mrs. Patterson died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.
She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Hawesville, Ky., the daughter of Joseph Franklin and Effie Lee Carmichael Gray. She was a 1939 graduate of Hancock County High School in Hawesville. She also was a graduate of College of Beauty Culture in Louisville, Ky.
Mrs. Patterson had lived in Oskaloosa since 1947, and was a hair and beauty operator there for many years. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Perry and was a longtime member of the Quilting Guild in Oskaloosa.
She married Harold L. “Pat” Patterson on Jan. 24, 1946, in Petaluma, Calif. He preceded her in death Dec. 21, 1997.
Survivors included a son, Franklin L. Patterson, Eureka, Calif.; two daughters, Janice Merritt, Oskaloosa, and Delores “Jean” Patterson, Valley Falls; a sister, Dorothy Beard, Evansville, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Taylor, and a granddaughter.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
