Harold L. Daugherty

Graveside services for Harold L. “Dinger” Daugherty, 81, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Daugherty died Friday, May 22, 2009, at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Eudora, the son of Harold G. and G. Fern Bohnsack Daugherty.
Mr. Daugherty graduated from Eudora High School and served in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II and then joined the Army, serving in Korea. He enjoyed his truck-driving career, driving for Pohlers Mercantile, and Dealer Transport, hauling new Fords.
From 1953 to 1992, he worked for Lawrence Paper Company, driving more than 1 million miles without an accident. After his retirement, he worked at three part-time jobs, including school crossing guard at Deerfield School.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hazel M. Daugherty, of the home; a son, Jerry S. and wife Sharon, Lawrence; a daughter, JoAnn Snavely and husband Steven R., Lawrence; and two grandsons, Parker and Clayton Snavely.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lorene White.
The family will receive friends at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
