Dorothy P. Reed

Williamstown — Funeral services for Dorothy P. “Dot” Reed, 83, Oskaloosa, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Williamstown Assembly of God Church. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.
Mrs. Reed died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at her home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Falls City, Neb., the daughter of Harry Edward and Elizabeth Pearl Williamson Henninger.
Mrs. Reed had lived in Jefferson County since 1930. She worked many years as a nursing aide at care facilities in Jefferson County, including the Fairview Nursing Home from 1965 to 1976, Jefferson County Geriatrics Center from 1977 to 1979 and at Cherokee Lodge in Oskaloosa beginning in 1980 until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of Williamstown Assembly of God Church and the Women’s Ministry of the church.
She married Elmo Alden Reed on Oct. 8, 1942. He preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1984. She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dorothy Louise Reed; and a great-grandson, Cody Reed.
Survivors include a son, Donald E. Reed, Oskaloosa; a daughter, Arlene E. Elston, Oskaloosa; a sister, Carol Jolliff, Mesquite, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
