Betty Lucille Schick 1923 - 2009 Overland Park
Funeral services for Betty Lucille Schick, 85, Overland Park, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church of Stanley. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.
Mrs. Schick, formerly of Edgerton, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at her home.
She was born Aug. 24, 1923, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Henry Wallace and Velda Farrimond Carpenter. She graduated from Pittsburg High School.
She was a typesetter and worked in ad sales for the Gardner News and later worked as a bookkeeper for the IRS in Kansas City, Mo., retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Stanley. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and crocheting.
She married Beverly Edward Schick on Aug. 29, 1941, in Vinland. He preceded her in death in 2000.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers Billy and Herb; and a sister, Margaret Binegar.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Scollon and husband John, Lawrence, Nancy Kelley and husband Ron, Overland Park, and Rebecca Curtis and husband Lane, of Olathe; four sons, Larry Schick and wife Merle, Gardner, Gary Schick and wife Shari, Overland Park, Michael Schick and wife Fern, Springfield, Mo., and Clifford Schick, Gardner; a brother, James Carpenter, Nicosia, Cyprus; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner.
The family suggests memorials to the National MS Society, the American Heart Association, or the Presbyterian Church of Stanley.
