Anthony J. Rinella

Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony J. Rinella, 77, Overland Park, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of the Holy Cross in Overland Park. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa.
Mr. Rinella died Friday, March 27, 2009, in Kansas City, Mo.
He was born April 30, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Anthony and Angeline Rinella. He attended Holy Rosary grade school and DeLaSalle High School, and graduated from Rockhurst College.
Mr. Rinella was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry, working for 35 years at B.M.A. insurance company.
He and his wife were founding members of the Church of the Holy Cross Catholic Parish in Overland Park, and were active in various parish ministries. Mr. Rinella was also past president and an active member in the Serra Club.
He married Susan Kathleen “Sue” Glynn on June 17, 1961, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Michael and wife Jennifer; five daughters, Christi Douglas and husband Mark, Lawrence, Kathy Strecker and husband Rick, Ann Whigham and husband John, Mary Sue LeBourveau and husband Peter, and Nancy LaSala and husband Chad; a brother, John and wife Carol; a sister, Augustine Accurso and husband Joseph; 19 grandchildren, Mae, Kate and expected baby Douglas, Jordan, Kristin, Shannon and Mary Strecker, Jack, Josie and Anne Rinella, Kyle, Lindsey and Curt Whigham, Andrew, Sarah and Nathan LeBourveau, and Abby Kate, Grace and Michael LaSala.
The family will meet friends after 3:30 p.m. today at the Holy Cross church, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. and the family will continue to greet friends in the church basement from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
