Zolla Lorene Wray Flory 1913 - 2009 Centropolis
Funeral services for Zolla Lorene Wray Flory, 95, Centropolis, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Centropolis. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Centropolis.
Mrs. Flory died Monday, March 23, 2009, at the Heart to Heart Home, Pomona.
She was born Sept. 23, 1913, on a farm near Centropolis, the daughter of Joe and Edna Crist Wray. She grew up in the rural Centropolis area and attended Minneola and Kaub grade schools. She graduated from Kaub grade school in 1928. Four years later she enrolled in Appanoose High School and graduated in three years.
Mrs. Flory was a homemaker all her adult life. She enjoyed caring for her children, gardening, ceramics, painting, crocheting and helping on the farm. She loved all pets and animals.
She married Leonard Flory, of rural Baldwin City, on April 9, 1939. They were baptized into their church on Sept. 10, 1940. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Kelvin Flory, Centropolis; a daughter, Aleeta Metzger and husband Dale, North Manchester, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Megan Flory, Kimberly Beasley and Aaron and Chad Metzger.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Delta Ikenberry.
The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa.
