Raymond Lee Parsons

Memorial visitation for Raymond Lee Parsons, 63, Lawrence, will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Inurnment will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Parsons died Monday, March 23, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 19, 1946, in Fairmont, W.Va., the son of Lee and Helen Schwartz Parsons. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1965.
Mr. Parsons was employed at Kansas Color Press for 17 years and Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant until it closed. He was currently employed with the Lawrence Journal-World, where he recently received his 15-year service pin.
Mr. Parsons was a member of the Good Sam Camper Club.
He married Delores Mitchell Statler on Dec. 20, 2008, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two stepdaughters, Sharon Stine, Raytown, Mo., and Yvoune Koleber, McLouth; a stepson, Ervin Statler, Lawrence; his stepparents, Kenneth and Berta Harmon, Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Harmon.
The family suggests memorials to Cancer Research at Lawrence Memorial Hospital-Oncology Department, sent in care of the mortuary.
