Robert F. Oyler

Funeral services for Robert F. “Bob” Oyler, 59, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Oyler died Friday, March 13, 2009, at the Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. He died as a result of complications from lung cancer treatment.
He was born on Feb. 12, 1950, in Lawrence, the son of Robert B. and Corinne High Oyler. He lived his entire life in Lawrence.
Mr. Oyler graduated from Lawrence High School and attended both KU and Baker University.
He was a portfolio manager and president of Bismarck Investment Group, LLC. He formerly was the owner of the KOA Campgrounds in Lawrence for 20 years and was also a lifelong entrepreneur.
Mr. Oyler was a member of the Lawrence Wesleyan Church and formerly served on the Mission Board there. He was a member and former board member of the Noon Kiwanis Club and the Breakfast Optimist Club. He was also a member of the Douglas County Historical Society and formerly served as its treasurer.
He married Caryn Poe on May 14, 1988, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Rob and wife Leigh Ann, of Shawnee; six daughters; Jocilyn Oyler Vermooten and husband David, and Jessica Oyler Willems and husband, J.J., all of Lawrence, Kelsey A. Oyler, Bartlesville, Okla., and Kimberly E. Oyler, Laura K. Oyler and Lynne N. Oyler, all of the home. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Madison Oyler, Morgan Oyler, Isabella Oyler Vermooten, Benjamin Willems, Annika Oyler Vermooten, Grant Robert Oyler and B. Willems.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marianne Oyler, his sister, Nancy Oyler Moats, and his parents.
The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the Children’s Educational Fund of Robert F. and Caryn Oyler, sent in care of the mortuary.
