Edward D. Johnson

A visitation for Edward D. Johnson, 79, Lawrence, is planned from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
Mr. Johnson died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
He was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Gift, Tenn., the son of John and Lonnie Glover Johnson. He moved to Lawrence in 1954 from Coffeyville.
Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 309 and Lawrence Masonic Lodge No. 6 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Johnson was a retired mechanic and maintenance supervisor at Farmland Industries.
He married Wanda Hodge on March 19, 1949, in Holton. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Marcia Boehle and husband Steven, and Arlene Newcomb and husband Stan, all of Lawrence; a son, Roger and wife Debby, Lawrence; a brother, Jessie, Covington, Tenn.; a sister, Louise Martin, Covington, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Jason and Ashley Boehle, Jeremiah Johnson and Morgan Newcomb; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Riley and Cameron Boehle.
The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care, sent in care of the mortuary.
