Billy Ray Saile

Ottawa — Funeral services for Billy Ray “Bill” Saile, 75, Pomona, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Vinland Cemetery.
Mr. Saile died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Ransom Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 8, 1933, in Lawrence, the son of Joseph Henry and Fanny Rachel Reusch Saile. He grew up and attended the Welcome Country Grade School and graduated from the Vinland High School in 1952.
Mr. Saile served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955. He worked for Penny’s Concrete, in Lawrence, while helping his father on the family farm. Mr. Saile drove a propane truck for Union Gas Co-op and the Shell Gas Company before his retirement in 1992. He also enjoyed participating in area tractor pulls.
Survivors include his wife, Irene, of the home; three brothers, Jack and wife Donna, Vinland, Darrell, Lawrence, and Bob and wife Donna, Baldwin City; four sons, Bob McNish and wife Cheryl, Topeka, Dennis McNish and Randy McNish, both of Lawrence, and Billy McNish, Baldwin City; a daughter-in-law, Lynne McNish, Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary McNish; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Saile.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home.
