Marilyn Griggs Riley

Memorial services for Marilyn Griggs Riley, 72, Denver, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, Denver.
Mrs. Riley died Monday, March 9, 2009.
She taught English for more than 30 years throughout the Denver public schools, principally at Manual High School, where she also coached the speech team.
After retiring, she continued writing with an eye toward important figures in Colorado history. In 2006, she published a book, “High Altitude Attitudes: Six Savvy Denver Women,” which is in its second printing.
She married Dudley R. Griggs, who died earlier. She married Dr. Conrad M. Riley. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Anne Griggs; two sons, Burke Griggs, Lawrence, and Robb Griggs; two sisters, Dolores Brown and Diana Kiefer; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Western History Department of the Denver Public Library or to the music department of the church.
