Ralph Edwin Longanecker

Funeral services for Ralph Edwin “Ed” Longanecker, 84, of Edgerton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mr. Longanecker died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Meadowbrook Rehab Hospital in Gardner.
He was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Lawrence, the son of Howard Frantz and Lola Ruth Wilbur Longanecker. He graduated from Lawrence High School and attended Kansas University.
Mr. Longanecker farmed all his life. He had lived in Edgerton since 1956.
He was a member of Community Christ Church of Olathe and the Longhorn Cattle Association.
He married Lola Marcene Landsberg on June 16, 1948, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Christi Lynne, of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Clay R. and wife Kathy, Edgerton, and Curt W. and wife LouAnn, Gardner; two brothers, Wilbur, Lawrence, and Chuck, Leaky, Texas; two sisters, JoAnn Bowan, Seattle, and Janie Bair of Florida; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Carol Marcene Hansel.
The family will meet friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
