Lt. Col. Clinton E. Maiden

A memorial service for Lt. Col. Clinton E. Maiden, 86, Canoga Park, was held Jan. 24 at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Canoga Park, with the Rev. Gregory Barth officiating. The service included the Air Force Blue Eagle Color Guard from March Air Force Base.
Mr. Maiden died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at his home.
He grew up in Lawrence, Kan., in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s and attended Pinckney School, Lawrence Junior High School and Liberty Memorial High School.
Mr. Maiden graduated from the Engineering School at Kansas University and was a U.S. Air Force pilot during World War II. He also worked many years at Hughes Aircraft Co. and TRW in developmental programs in microelectronics and aerospace, and received many awards and patents.
Survivors include five children and their families, with three daughters, Janie Myers and Barbara Pierce, both of Bakersfield, and Rebecca Nygard, Topanga; two sons, Chuck, Newbury Park, and Kevin, Seattle; a brother, Elmo, Canoga Park; and two sisters, Donna Strachocki, Sacramento, and Mary Redmond, Oakhurst.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie, in 1993, and a sister, Audrey Arvin, in 1998.
