Mary L. Ross 1940 - 2009 Red Oak, Iowa
Funeral services for Mary L. Ross, 68, Red Oak, Iowa, will be at 10 a.m. today at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak, with the Rev. Alan Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak.
Mrs. Ross died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at the Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Neb.
She was born Aug. 5, 1940, in Red Oak, the daughter of Clifford and Rose Houser Page.
Mrs. Ross attended school and lived all of her life in Red Oak.
She worked alongside her husband with the family masonry business as well as being a waitress at the Rainbow Café for more than 40 years. She enjoyed painting, baking, drinking coffee and playing cards with family and friends.
She married Richard O. Ross on Sept. 13, 1962, in Omaha. He died on June 15, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Viola Page, Fayetta Cassidy and Florence Archer; and four brothers, John, Levi “Pete,” Frank “Bud” and Chester.
Survivors include four children, Scott Ross and wife Hope, Red Oak; Sheila Vander Tuig and husband Paul, Baldwin City, Kan., Sharon Allison and husband John, Red Oak, and Shelley Lovick and husband Mike, Rosemount, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, Dustin, Megan, Paige, Tylor, Tristin, Amanda, Justin, Kelsey, Christopher, Tyrone, Dylan and Dakota; two great-grandchildren, Allie and Kaiden; four sisters, Marjorie Archer, Shirley Snyder and husband Alton, JoAnn Hawker and Gladys Clark, all of Red Oak; and two sisters-in-law, Marcia Helm and husband LeRoy and Gwen Hossle and husband Max, all of Red Oak; and several nieces and nephews.
The family is establishing a memorial in her name.
