Herbert Richard Bernhardt

Graveside services with military honors for Herbert Richard Bernhardt, 91, Topeka, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka.
Mr. Bernhardt died Monday, March 2, 2009.
He was born Nov. 12, 1917, in Marion, the son of Henry and Katherine Bernhardt.
Mr. Bernhardt served in France with the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated the Amoco service station at 29th Street and Topeka Boulevard for 28 years.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge No. 555, American Legion Post No. 1, Veterans of Foreign Wars Phillip Billard Post No. 1650, the Topeka Scottish Rite and Albert Neese Lodge No. 248.
He married Margaret “Barb” Fuller on July 2, 1941. She preceded him in death April 23, 1995.
Survivors include a son, Bradley and wife Sherry, Lawrence; a daughter, Connie Carson and husband Ronald, Queen Creek, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in Topeka, where the family will meet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
