Dean E. Wensel 1915 - 2009 Tonganoxie
Funeral services for Dean E. Wensel, 93, Tonganoxie, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Burial will follow in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
Mr. Wensel died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at his home.
He was born Nov. 17, 1915, in Promise City, Iowa, the son of John and Nora Donald Wensel. He worked as a crane operator for bridge construction for 28 years and retired as a road grader operator for Leavenworth County in 1990. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local No. 101, Kansas City, Mo.
He married Mylinda Jane West on Dec. 9, 1937, in Unionville, Mo. She died July 8, 2001.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Regina, and a great-granddaughter, Emma.
Survivors include a son, Dale W., Tonganoxie; four daughters, Doris Storlien, Hindsville, Ark., Jeraldean Cooper and husband Robert, Stockton, Mo., Arlene Howard and husband Deane, Hindsville, Ark., and Shirley Waters and husband Arden, Tonganoxie; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Quisenberry Chapel.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association or Kansas City Hospice.
