Helen Brogan 1921 - 2009 Lawrence

Coffeyville — A rosary vigil service for Helen Louise Brogan, 87, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
She died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 18, 1921, in Craig County, Okla., the daughter of Les and Anna Barker Seigel. She was a former Coffeyville resident and moved to Lawrence five years ago.
Mrs. Brogan moved to Coffeyville in 1938 where she worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. for 42 years, many of them as a credit manager. Her husband’s military service moved them to Los Angeles and Colorado Springs, Colo. After his discharge, they returned to Coffeyville.
She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Holy Name Altar Society, and the VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She married John E. Brogan on Nov. 20, 1940, in Coffeyville. He died April 10, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by two infant grandsons.
Survivors include a daughter, Jon Kay Murphy, Lawrence; a son, Thomas M. Brogan, Spring, Texas; two brothers, Gene Seigel, Tulsa, Okla., and Jerry Seigel, Warrensburg, Mo.; two sisters, Ruby Armstrong, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Jimi Lou Rodman, Wichita; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call today from noon to 9 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
