Elaine B. Daniels 1928 - 2009 Lecompton
Services for Elaine B. Daniels, 81, Lecompton, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lecompton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Daniels died Friday, June 26, 2009, at her home in Lecompton.
She was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Lecompton, the daughter of Herman Isaac and Rebecca Florence Miller Banks. She graduated from Lecompton High School in 1945 and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas University.
Mrs. Daniels was a homemaker. She taught at Crowder, a one-room schoolhouse, from 1949 to 1951. She also taught kindergarten for five years at Lecompton Grade School. She was a member of Lecompton United Methodist Church and was involved with United Methodist Women.
She married Norman Edward Daniels on July 18, 1953. They shared 55 years of marriage. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Norman Edward Daniels Jr. and wife Cindy, Lecompton; a daughter, Kay Taylor and husband Terry, Carterville, Ill.; a brother, James “Bud” Banks, Lecompton; a sister, Helen Crady, Lawrence; four grandchildren, Beau Daniels, Cheris Daniels-Messerly, and Brad and Alex Taylor; and a great-grandson, Barrett Daniels.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice and Lecompton United Methodist Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
