Henry O’Dell “Uncle Dale” Williams

Oskaloosa — A celebration of life for Henry O’Dell “Uncle Dale” Williams, 72, Oskaloosa, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Cremation is planned. Inurnment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa at a later date.
Mr. Williams died Monday, June 22, 2009, at his home in rural Oskaloosa.
He was born Jan. 11, 1937, in England, Ark., the son of Chester Thomas and Christie Elizabeth Jones Williams.
Mr. Williams had lived in Oskaloosa for several years. He was the former owner and operator of “Uncle Dale’s” North Side and South Side Taverns in Oskaloosa and “Uncle Dale’s” Taverns in Valley Falls, Nortonville and Mayetta.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, including during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He married Jeannine M. Subelka in Valley Falls. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, David, Oskaloosa, and Kevin, Houston; two daughters, Kim Heatherman, Topeka, and Dianne Scott, Olathe; two stepdaughters, Gina Holwick, McLouth, and Maggie Moore, Oskaloosa; a brother, Jerry, Bonner Springs; two sisters, Irene, Bonner Springs, and Shirley Weir, Basehor; and five grandchildren.
