Leonard Leroy Cornelius

Graveside services and inurnment for Leonard Leroy Cornelius, 53, Baldwin City, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Vinland Cemetery.
Mr. Cornelius died Friday, June 5, 2009.
He was born May 3, 1956, in the Panama Canal Zone, the son of Marvin and Shirley Weaver Cornelius. He grew up and attended schools in Baldwin City and received a G.E.D. in 1974.
Mr. Cornelius served in the U.S. Army as private first class and was honorably discharged Aug. 17, 1976. He was a press operator for 20 years at Daisy Products in Gardner. He later worked at the Kmart Distribution Center in Lawrence, Walt’s Pizza in Baldwin City, Haven’s Steel Company in Ottawa, and the V.A. Hospital in Leavenworth.
He enjoyed building models, fishing, reading and attending car shows.
He married Marjorie Wadkins on Aug. 26, 1986. They later divorced.
Survivors include a daughter, Deyonna Cornelius, Hutchinson; two stepsons, Eric Joseph Wadkins, Gardner, and Nathan Robert Kring, Wellsville; his parents, of Baldwin City; three brothers, Larry and wife Louise, of Michigan, his twin brother, LaVerne “Lane” and wife Diane, Raytown, Mo., and Leslie “Bud” and wife Jo, Baldwin City; twin sisters, Laura Leigh Cornelius, Lawrence, and Loretta Lynn Weber, Topeka; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to the Salvation Army, sent in care to the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
