Juanita Marie Transmeier

Funeral services for Juanita Marie Transmeier, 85, of Oskaloosa, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will be at Hardy Oak Cemetery in Sarcoxie Township.
Mrs. Transmeier, formerly of Lawrence, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Jefferson County Senior Living Center in Winchester.
She was born Jan. 25, 1924, in Lawrence, the daughter of Bernard J. and Effie D. Belt Hill. She lived most of her life in Lawrence and attended Lawrence schools.
Mrs. Transmeier was a homemaker. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary No. 309 in Lawrence, and enjoyed auctions, bowling, bingo, show horses and sports.
She married LeRoy Ernest Transmeier on May 8, 1944 at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Hill, and two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Martha Francis Thornton.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph L. “Joe” Transmeier and wife Joyce, Grayson, Mo., and Wayne Lee Transmeier and wife Susan, Shawnee; two daughters, Gloria Noll and husband Dale, Oskaloosa, and Jeannie Hansen and husband Darren, Perry; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will meet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
