Marian Irene Carr and Janet Irene Hornberger

A joint graveside service for Marian Irene Carr, 82, Wichita, formerly of Lawrence and Perry, and Janet Irene Hornberger, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Carr died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
She was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Clarence W. and Josephine D. Allen Deskins. She attended Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence.
Mrs. Carr worked at Kansas Color Press for 15 years and later at Lawrence Paper Company for 11 years. She retired from Packer Plastics after six years of service. She was a member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.
She married Harry William Carr Jr. on Dec. 1, 1943, in Lawrence. He died Jan. 27, 1999. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Irene Hornberger.
Survivors include five daughters, Donna Johnson, Mission, Tex., Betty Nichols, Lawrence, Barbara Wright, Wichita, Judy Carr, Wellsville, and Kathy Howe, Ozawkie; 15 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
Janet Irene Hornberger died Feb. 19, 2007, at the age of 61. She had lived in Lawrence, and worked at Packerware/Berry Plastics. Survivors include a son, James Hornberger.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to Faith Hospice of Wichita or the National Kidney Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
