Doris Lee Dillahunty Lindsey

Services for Doris Lee Dillahunty Lindsey, 71, Eudora, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Lindsey died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born April 15, 1937, in DeQueen, Ark., the daughter of Willie Mae and William B. Dillahunty. She graduated from Sevier County High School and attended Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Ark. She was a member of the a capella choir and traveled extensively in the United States. She also sang in a group called The Dillahunty Sisters. She moved to Lawrence in 1960 and to Eudora in 1974.She was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church. She worked for Kansas Power & Light and retired after 25 years of service.She married Bobby Vernon Lindsey in October 1961 in Lawrence. He died in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Cleophus and Wilbert Dillahunty.Survivors include two daughters, Delores Jackson, Lawrence, and Janet Trader, Williamstown, N.J.; a brother, Charles Dillahunty and wife Parthenia, Oklahoma City, Okla.; four sisters, Eloise Davis, Anita Martin and Louise Johnson, Lawrence, and Billie Mitchell and husband Bobby, Lecompton; five grandchildren, Joy and Chauncey Jackson, and Maria, Timothy and William Rennels; a great-grandson, James; and many nieces, including Valerie Johnson, and nephews.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.Online condolences may be sent at www.rumsey-yost.com.
