Funeral services for Helen Lucile Franklin McFatrich, 86, Sedalia, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, with the Rev. Mary Biesemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery near Sedalia.Mrs. McFatrich died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at her home.She was born Aug. 15, 1922, near Sedalia, the daughter of Russell George and Edith Mae Van Dyke Franklin.Mrs. McFatrich managed a dairy, beef, grain and hog operation along with her husband. She milked 80 cows each day.She and her husband received the state and county Extension Farm Management Awards in 1965-66. The Pettis County Extension Club honored her as Homemaker of the Year in 1987. She grew flowers, fruits and vegetables, and canned more than 700 jars annually. She also was known for her pies.Mrs. McFatrich was a member of New Bethel United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Camp Branch Extension Club. She was a 4-H leader and a member of Pettis County Council, Flat Creek Extension Club, United Methodist Women, Candlelighters, Eastern Star, Parent Teacher Association, Women’s Democratic Club, Farm Bureau, Sedalia Knife & Fork and AARP.She married Russell J. McFatrich on March 25, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1999.Mrs. McFatrich also was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Bobby Franklin and Dorothy Lappat.Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Williams and husband Jeffrey, Sedalia, and Mitzi McFatrich, Lawrence, Kan.; a son, Jerry McFatrich and wife Melody, Slidell, La.; and 10 grandchildren, Shandi and Troy Lewis, Kami Poole, Justin Williams, Sarah Cramer, Melissa King, Jerry McFatrich Jr. and James, Kayla and Jeffrey Davis; nine great-grandchildren, Cody Poole, Jeremy Lewis, Brian Sokolowski, Samantha Williams, Cade McFatrich, Emily and Brilyn King, Logan McFatrich and John Cramer; a sister, Betty Hickam, Sedalia; and four brothers, George and Carl Franklin, both of Sedalia; Bill Franklin, Seattle; and Gary Franklin, Sherwood, Ark.The family suggests memorials to New Bethel United Methodist Church and the Children’s Therapy Center, sent in care of the funeral home, 903 S.
