David Anthony Grisafe

Memorial services for David Anthony Grisafe, 70, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church.Mr. Grisafe died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at his home.He was born Jan. 30, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Anthony and Ida Elizabeth Grisafe.Mr. Grisafe received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He received a master’s degree and doctorate from Penn State University.He worked as a scientist and geologist at the Kansas Geological Survey for more than 30 years. He was retired.Mr. Grisafe founded the Motet Singers in 1974 and was its director until 2008. He was a member of the Lawrence Civic Choir as well as one of the founding members. He was a past member of the Lawrence Jaycees.He attended First Presbyterian Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence.He married Karen Rae Musheno on July 16, 1966, in Center Hall, Pa. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two daughters, Jill Brungardt and husband Mike, Baldwin City, and Joy Grisafe-Gross and husband Shawn Gross, Lawrence; a son, Jay and wife Tara, Lawrence; six grandchildren, Jake and Libby Brungardt, Amber, David, Abigail and Anthony Grisafe.The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. before services Saturday at the church.The family suggests memorials to the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at warrenmcelwain .com, subject: Grisafe.
