Floyd David Deck

A celebration of life service for Floyd David Deck, 57, rural McLouth, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Military honors will be conducted by the Kansas National Guard. Cremation is planned.Mr. Deck died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at his home.He was born Jan. 11, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Floyd Wesley and Olena B. Snitker Deck. He had lived in McLouth for 10 years after moving from Belton, Mo.Mr. Deck served in the U.S. Marines from 1974 to 1978. He was a mechanic for United Parcel Service in Lenexa for 23 years. He retired with disability on Jan. 11.Mr. Deck was a member of Teamsters Local 41 in Kansas City, Mo., and was a member and founder of the Jefferson County chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous in Oskaloosa. He was active in AA groups in Douglas, Wyandotte and Johnson counties.He married Connie Lynn Parker on July 24, 1971, in Kansas City, Mo. They divorced.Survivors include two daughters, Rachael DeMore, Tonganoxie, and Danielle Deck-Culter, McLouth; a sister, Barbara F. Turner, Grain Valley, Mo.; two brothers, Virgil L., Overbrook, and Bob G., Falcon, Colo.; and six grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to an AA chapter of the donor’s choice, sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P.O.
