McLouth — Funeral services for Esther L. Schwinn, 84, McLouth, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at McLouth United Methodist Church. Burial will be in McLouth Cemetery.Mrs. Schwinn died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at the Senior Living Center in Winchester.She was born Sept. 2, 1924, in rural McLouth, the daughter of Ray and Minnie “Willo” Lobb. She graduated from McLouth High School in 1942.Mrs. Schwinn was a longtime resident of McLouth. She was a homemaker. She attended nursing school in Topeka and was former nurses aide at Fairview Nursing Home and a licensed practical nurse at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was a former member of the Edmonds Chapel north of McLouth. She was a member of McLouth United Methodist Church and a member and past officer of the United Methodist Women. She served as an officer and lay speaker in education in the Kansas East Conference and as a youth leader on both the local and conference level.Mrs. Schwinn served on the Jefferson County Election Board for many years and as a 4-H leader for the McLouth Country Kids 4-H Club. She enjoyed painting, quilting and sewing.She married Francis William Schwinn on May 22, 1943, in McLouth. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Larry Schwinn, Oskaloosa, and Mike Schwinn, McLouth; a daughter, Cheri Schwinn, McLouth; two brothers, Phillip Lobb, Mission, Texas, and Thomas Lobb, Tonganoxie; two sisters, Ruby Harwood, McLouth, and Shirley Kiefer, Dallas Center, Iowa; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday before services at the church.The family suggests memorials to the church or an organization of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
