Robert Buckles Lester 1947 - 2009 Rocklin, Calif.
A memorial celebration of life for retired Lt. Col. Robert “Bob” Buckles Lester, 61, Rocklin, Calif., will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Graveside inurnment services with military honors were Friday at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif.Mr. Lester died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, in Houston.He was born Dec. 13, 1947, at Junction City, the son of John A. Jack and Berneice Buckles. After the death of Mr. Buckles in 1954, he was raised by his adopted father, James S. Lester, until his death in 1966.He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1965. After graduating from Kansas University Law School, he traveled around the country with the U.S. Air Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2002. He also lived in Kansas City.He married Gloria Downing on March 17, 1977, in Redlands, Calif. She survives, of the home in Rocklin, Calif.Other survivors include two sons, James, Houston, and Richard, Rocklin; his mother and stepfather, James Mitchell, Olathe; a brother, John, Kansas City, Mo.; and a sister, Mary Jane Duncan, Olathe.Online condolences may be sent at barnettchapeloaks.com.
