Funeral services for Darlene Louise Heacock, 76, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Hill Cemetery.Mrs. Heacock died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Cambridge, the daughter of James and Blanche Beamer Cullumber Campbell, and stepfather Harold Campbell. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1950.Mrs. Heacock was a medical records secretary at St. Mary’s Hospital in Winfield, and later a stenographer at Winfield State Hospital. She then became an office manager in the department of Russian and East European Studies at Kansas University. She retired after 29 years of service, during which she was awarded the Employee of the Year in 1995. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Oak Ridge Club and the Lawrence Cosmopolitan Luncheon Pals. She enjoyed reading, knitting and embroidery.She married Robert Allen “Bob” Heacock on July 17, 1952, in Winfield. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Douglas and wife Carolyn, Lawrence, and Bradley and wife Patty, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two daughters, Teresa Gottstein and husband Steve, and Anne Munsterman and husband Dave, all of Lawrence; a brother, Carroll Wray Campbell, Winfield; two sisters, Judith Sutton, Pampa, Texas, and Susan Brooks, Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.The family suggests memorials to the church or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at rumsey-yost.com.
