Anna Wendelken 1940 - 2009 Wakefield
Clay Center — Funeral services for Anna Wendelken, 68, Wakefield, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.Mrs. Wendelken died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Golden Livingcenter in Wakefield. She was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Madona, Latvia, the daughter of Walter and Emma Rahe Ohlde. Mrs. Wendelken worked at the Foot Locker Distribution Center in Junction City for 12 years and also at the Clay Center Dispatch. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Extension Homemakers Unit, 4-H and Jolly Neighbor Club. She married Richard Wendelken in 1964. He preceded her in death in 2005. Survivors include three daughters, Diane Wendelken, Manhattan, Sheila Bowser, Clay Center, and Leah Reichert, Lawrence; two sons, Mark and Richie, both of Wakefield; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center.The family suggests memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church or ALS Kansas University Endowment Association for research, sent in care of the funeral home, 918 Seventh St., Clay Center, KS 67432.
