Mary JoAnn Male 1927 - 2009 Eudora
Mass of Christian Burial for Mary JoAnn Male, 81, Eudora, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Scranton.Mrs. Male died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.She was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Scranton, the daughter of Joseph Anton and Inez Foster Heise.She attended Topeka Catholic schools and Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison. She graduated from St. Louis University with a Master of Science in dietetics. She was a high school teacher in Esbon and in Avon Lake, Ohio. She was a cafeteria production manager for Mills Cafeteria and a dietitian at University Hospital and various nursing homes in Cleveland. She was also was a dietitian for St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas.She married Frank J. Male on Aug. 19, 1961, in Cleve-land. He survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Frank A. Male, Eudora, and Gregory J. Male, Cincinnati; two sisters, Frances Swalwell, Topeka, and Rita Little, Carbondale; two brothers, Joseph C. Heise, Scranton, and Robert Heise, Ottumwa, Iowa; and six grandchildren, Frank R., Justin, JoAnna, Victoria, Jasmine and Jenna. The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent at warrrenmcelwain.com, subject: Male.
