Walter Steven Hunnel 1959 - 2009 Lawrence
Memorial services for Walter Steven Hunnel, 49, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel. Cremation is planned. Private family inurnment at Oak Hill Cemetery will be at a later date.Mr. Hunnel died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at his home. He was born on Feb. 25, 1959, in Cheyenne, Wyo., the son of Leslie Marvin Hunnel and Virginia Lee Alford.Mr. Hunnel attended Kansas State University, and he received EMT certification and a nursing degree. He worked for Lawrence Memorial Hospital as a database administrator. He was a member of the NRA and was an avid ham radio operator. Survivors include his mother, Virginia Lee Alford, Lawrence; his father, Leslie M. Hunnel and wife Jeanne, Leavenworth; three brothers, Daniel Paul, Longwood, Fla., Michael Allen, Fredericksburg, Va., and Kenneth L., Lawrence; and a sister, Laurie Pfantz, Lawrence. He was preceded in death by a sister, Karin J. Hunnel, on April 19, 2008. Online condolences may be sent at barnettchapeloaks.com.
