Ronald I. Hancox

Joplin, Mo. — Services for Ronald I. “Papa” Hancox, 64, Joplin, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.Mr. Hancox died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at his home.He was born June 23, 1944, in Lawrence, Kan., the son of Irwin and Vada E. Davis Hancox. He had lived in Joplin since 1974, moving from Lee’s Summit.Mr. Hancox worked as a truck driver for Jack Cooper Transport in Kansas City for many years, retiring on Nov. 30, 2007. He was a member of Teamsters Local 41 in Kansas City. He was an avid fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and was a longtime Little League baseball coach in Joplin. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.He married Wanda C. Hill on Nov. 26, 1988, in Joplin. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include his mother, Vada “Penny” Hancox, Lawrence; three daughters, Patti Etherton and husband Bobby and Kristi Seibert and husband, Michael, all of Joplin, and Amy Prescott and husband, Paul, Independence, Mo.; a son, Tommy and wife Ramona, Elgin, Okla.; two brothers, Rick and wife, Sharon, Belleview, Mo., and Mark and wife, Robin, Independence, Mo.; a sister, Stacy Johnson and husband, Charles, Ormond Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Brandon Straughn, Jonmichael Seibert, Nicholas Hancox, Nicholas Prescott, Codi Prescott and Kayli Prescott; five great-grandchildren, Alexus, Jasmine, Hunter, Wyatt and Landon; a special uncle, Dick Davis and wife, Joyce, Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.The family suggests memorials to the Calvary Baptist Church Youth Fund, sent in care of the mortuary, 1502 S.
