Frewsburg, N.Y. — A memorial service for Anna B. Bjork, 97, Frewsburg, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Zion Lutheran Church, Frewsburg. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.Mrs. Bjork died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at the W.C.A. Hospital.She was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Jamestown, the daughter of John and Anna Johnson Beckdahl.She was a 1931 graduate of WCA School of Nursing. She had worked for Dr. Laury and Dr. Palma in Jamestown. In earlier years she was a Chautauqua County TB nurse.Mrs. Bjork was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Frewsburg, WCA Hospital Alumni, Frewsburg Study Club and Davis Adolphus Auxiliary, and was a former secretary of District LCW. She enjoyed bird watching and gardening, and was an avid reader.She married Leverne Young on Aug. 21, 1932. He died in 1953. She married Melvin Bjork on Sept. 17,1961. He died April 1, 1997.A sister, Holda Stromdahl, also preceded her in death.Survivors include three daughters, Janice Conrad and husband Donald, Lawrence, Kan., Sandra Gorham and husband Nick, Argyle, Texas, and Kristine Andrews and husband Paul, Frewsburg; a son, John Young and wife Nancy, Canal Winchester, Ohio; seven grandchildren, David Conrad, Pamela Galen, Deborah Miller, Teri Nettle, Julie Abrahamson, Anne Hageman and the Rev. John Conrad; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Beckdahl, Springfield, Ohio.The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour Saturday at the church.The family suggests memorials to Zion Lutheran Church, 45 Falconer St., Frewsburg, NY 14738.The Peterson Funeral Home in Frewsburg is in charge of arrangements.
