Elizabeth E. House 1912 - 2009 Lawrence
Graveside services for Elizabeth E. “Liz” House, 96, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. House died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.She was born May 11, 1912, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Frederick K. and Anna Elizabeth Nichols Johnson. She attended Lawrence schools.Mrs. House was an operator for Southwestern Bell for 45 years, retiring in 1974. She was a past state president of the Kansas Authors Club and a member of the Autumn Club.She married Roy Albert House on June 29, 1935, in Lawrence. He died in October 1985. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry, in 2005.Survivors include a daughter, Janet Larue Nelson, Everett, Wash.; and several cousins, including Sally Barnett, Lawrence.The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, sent in care of the funeral home.Online condolences may be sent at rumsey-yost.com.
